Developement and Feasibility Study of a Functional Brain Passive Microwave Tomography System

چکیده
Focused Microwave Radiometry, aiming at measuring tissue temperature and conductivity distributions inside the human body, is the technique implemented in the development of a prototype non-invasive microwave imaging system operating at 3.5GHz, for feasible brain intracranial applications. The novelty of the proposed methodology consists in the use of an ellipsoidal conductive wall cavity that provides the required focusing. A semi-analytical method based on the Green’s function theory forms the electromagnetic numerical analysis utilized in order to study theoretically the focusing properties of the system. Phantom experimental results validate the proof of concept and determine the temperature and spatial attributes of the system.

Objective(s): Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease with a wide range of clinical manifestations. Cognitive dysfunction is one of the manifestations that could present prior to the emergence of any other neuropsychiatric involvements in SLE. Cognitive dysfunction is a subtle condition occurring with ahigh frequency. However, there is no data on the correlation of cognitive...
متن کاملFeasibility Study of Real-time and Automated Monitoring of Iranian Rivers using 50-kHz Fluvial Acoustic Tomography System
Acoustic Tomography (AT) technique is an innovative method for real-time river monitoring. In this study, not only the accuracy of flow velocity measurement using 50 kHz AT system which is appropriate for narrow rivers (most Iranian rivers) is evaluated, but also its performance is compared with 30 kHz one which is used in wide rivers. The comparison results showed that the velocity resolutions...

Introduction: Different approaches have been developed to find the position of the internal auditory canal (IAC)in middle cranial fossa approach. A feasibility study was performed to investigate the combination of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), optical coherence tomography (OCT), and laser ablation to assist a surgeon in a middle cranial fossa approach by outlining the internal auditory ...
متن کاملBedside functional imaging of the premature infant brain during passive motor activation.
BACKGROUND Changes in regional brain blood flow and hemoglobin oxygen saturation occur in the human cortex in response to neural activation. Traditional functional radiologic methods cannot provide continuous, portable measurements. Imaging methods, which use near-infrared light allow for non-invasive measurements by taking advantage of the fact that hemoglobin is a strong absorber at these wav...
